Dr. Yanhong He
Assistant Professor
Dr. Yanhong He will join Kansas State University’s Department of Grain and Food Science as an assistant professor focusing on sustainable food systems. She currently serves as a senior scientist at International Flavors & Fragrances Inc., where she leads soy fiber innovation, develops analytical methods for food ingredient characterization and advances plant protein functionality.
Dr. He previously held a postdoctoral research position at Cornell University, where she worked on iron delivery complexes and the valorization of waste seashells. She earned her doctorate in food science and technology from Virginia Tech and holds degrees in agricultural engineering from China Agricultural University and Yunnan Normal University.
Her interdisciplinary background spans process engineering, ingredient analysis, and the upcycling of agricultural and food processing byproducts to support sustainable innovation throughout the food system. At K-State, Dr. He looks forward to advancing research that promotes resilience and sustainability across global food supply chains.
